Just Training

Welp, after my fantastic DNF (thanks to a broken chain 20 min in) at Keystone last month, I haven't actually been able to do any racing. Spent a weekend in class, and otherwise have been knocking out some big training rides mainly. Last weekend I went out with a friend here in the springs to climb Mt. Baldy which turned from a 3 hr ride up to the pipeline into a 5 hr day up to the top of 12,300' peak just behind Pikes Peak. Some sweet views to say the least. Followed that climb with a solid hour of descending down Jones Park which is some of the sweetest burmed trail in the area.

I actually was having fun on this ride...just was a little too low on oxygen to smile apparently.

This weekend I hung around locally again to knock out a few more rides and watch Steph run the Pikes Peak Ascent. Half marathon starting at 6300' climbing to over 14,000'. Pretty sweet race which I may have to look into next year. This year I just settled for riding my bike up the trail a few miles where I parked it for an hour or so to watch the madness and sip on my coffee which seemed like a much better idea!

So Steph was actually a ways ahead of this mess luckily, but that's the scene from the back of the pack. I failed miserably at the one picture I actually tried to take of her.

Next race up is in 2 weeks with Solvista cross country, followed by a possible shot at the Palmer Park 50 miler. Haven't done a race that long in a while, but how can you pass up an opportunity to suffer like that only a few miles from your doorstep?
